I decided to photograph this small stream running through North Lake, and as I was getting set up, a fellow camper pointed out the striking mushroom that is the real subject of this photo. I was taken not only by its color setting it off from the bright green moss, but also because it remained there. It looks like a tempting target for children (or adults) with rocks.
